Interests: I enjoy going to the beach, dancing, and going out with my friends.

Future Goals:  In the future, I hope to work in Teach for America for a couple of years. After I enjoy life thoroughly, I would like to go to medical school or work in some field of criminology and forensic science.

Dr. Amanda Grannas

 

 

Hometown:  originally from Williamsburg, Pennsylvania

Education: B.S. Chemistry and Math, Juniata College; Ph.D., Analytical Chemistry, Purdue University

Research Interests:  Pollutant cycling, atmospheric chemistry, photochemistry, soil/sediment redox processes, climate change

Non-research interests:  Music (I play the violin, trombone, and piano); travel; dancing (used to be on a competitive ballroom dance team); gardening; writing research proposals (oh, wait - that should be under research interests, huh?)

Future Goals:  Do fieldwork in Antarctica...I have been to the Arctic, so if I get to the south pole I can be a truly "bipolar" researcher.  :)

Alex Anderson

Research Project: A little bit of everything!

Interests:  In addition to chemistry I enjoy talking about: economics (just started, so don't ask me anything tough); Japanese (watashi ni denwa o shite kudasai, kara watashitach wa nihongo no benkyou o shimasu); Philosophy (I enjoy discussing anything from metaphysics to semantics).

Future Goals:  I have been admitted to the College Of Wooster and plan to continue doing research that is beneficial to long-term human existence and well being. More specifically, I'd like to continue my studies of environmental chemistry.

Future Goals:  In the Fall, I will work for Dupont Laboratory in Wilmington, DE.  Hopefully while working I will be able to also continue my education for my goal to be involved in hospital-based medical sciences.

Ashley Sprenkle

Interests:  Outside of chemistry I am interested in animals, sports, and outdoor activities.  I have been involved with equestrian competitions since the age of 7, currently taking time off to pursue further education at Villanova until 2007.

Future Goals:  I plan to obtain my M.S. by 2007, which will hopefully help me on my way to a career in industry.

Ashley obtained her M.S. degree in May 2007 and currently works at GlaxoSmithKline as a Research Scientist.

Future Goals:  In the future, I plan to attend medical school in order to become an orthopedic surgeon.

Jessica Paul

Research Project: Soil/Sediment Redox Chemistry

Interests:  Throughout undergrad, I played four years of field hockey competitively, and softball my junior year. I love going to Phillies games and routing for the Eagles. Currently I am a full-time grad student, having fun with my friends and avoiding the real world.
Future Goals:
 I plan to graduate with my M.S. degree by 2007 and hopefully obtain a job where I will make lots and lots of money.
